Carelliance Background
Carelliance has been founded by Peter Walgemoed. After a career of ten years at Philips Medical Systems in product management and international business development functions, Peter started Carelliance in 2000. The goal of setting up a digital preservation service for the Medical market turned out to be much more difficult then expected. In the past years experience in the Electronic Health Record market and the storage networking industry have been built. The data-analysis for a major hospital group in the Netherlands showed a huge explosion of different data produced by many applications that need to be accessed for a long time. To manage this growth effectively, storage consolidation and content/archive management independent from applications will be essential. The key issue is information availability. This is only partly a technology issue. Most important are the people and processes to define the policies and manage the risks with acceptable costs. Together with Medical expert consultancies Peter is advising Healthcare institutions on the required technical architecture and information management policies. However, Peter's major drive is to share this knowledge electronically via the above-mentioned portals.
