Introduction

Welcome to the Carelliance website. Carelliance's main interest is to preserve multimedia content for the medical market and let its users get application independent access to it. As its name suggests, the E-(a)lliance stands for networked expertise and for sharing knowledge electronically via the intra/Internet. Libraries have been pioneering digital preservation issues during the past decades. The knowledge obtained in this segment will be shared in the Multimedia Archiving Group Portal. For the medical market the scope is extended to sharing knowledge about the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and specifically its technical architecture, in the EHR Network Portal. By clicking on this Carelliance Portal link or to the link to the right you will enter these portals.

Carelliance Ambition

Carelliance supports (healthcare) institutions in their journey from storage consolidation to a virtual enterprise archive world, where institutions are director of their content, independent from the applications that created it and the IT-infrastructure supporting it.
Carelliance believes that this independence will be achieved through three phases coming in IT waves. The first phase is storage consolidation. In the second phase institutions will build their own digital enterprise archive to ensure long term application independent access to their content. In the third phase the enterprise archive will become virtual, because it is fully integrated with the institution's business network. The Information Policy will become more and more important as well as the amount of (human) resources involved to build and maintain it. Analogous to the Egyptian Pyramids this virtual archive has to be designed to last.
